UNP leadership like an invalid currency note - UNP MP

Although the UNP is the grand old party of Sri Lanka its leadership is presently rejected by the people like an invalid currency note, said Kurunegala district UNP Parliamentarian Asoka Abeysinghe commenting on the recently concluded Local Council elections.

He said the UNP leader who has lost a series of consecutive elections is today surrounded by persons rejected by the people, by appointing them to the party working committee.

The recently concluded Local Government elections had given a wide and clear message to the UNP to the effect that it should be completely re-organized from top to bottom if it desired to win the confidence of the people.
