TNA MP calls for change of attitude among Tamil Diaspora

‘A change of attitude in the minds of the Tamil Diaspora is essential in today’s political environment. The government has recognized the fact that the Tamil voters have given a clean mandate to the TNA in recent local government elections.

Therefore nobody should put any obstacles to the attempts to renew the stalled bilateral talks between the government and TNA to find a peaceful and permanent political solution to the ethnic problem in Sri Lanka, TNA MP M A Sumandiran said. He made these remarks when he addressed a meeting organized by TNA’s British branch in London. He further said that the last three meetings between TNA and the government party were very encouraging and positive suggestions were made by both parties during these discussions.

Sumandiran also said that to bring about a peaceful, permanent political solution to the ethnic problem, the blessings and the endorsement of the majority Sinhala people is essential.

Therefore there should be a positive change of heart among the Tamil Diaspora. Such an attitude will help to expedite the process to find a permanent political solution, he said.

The government has also said that the next discussion will be held in due course.
