Kandy Esala Pageant begins on July 31

The Kandy Esala Pageant of the Sri Dalada Maligawa will begin on July 31 with the Kap planting ceremony at the four main devalayas.

The first Kumbal Perahera will be held on August 4 and the Randoli Perahera will parade the streets from August 9 to 13. Senior DIG H N B Ambanpola said a 5,000 strong police contingent will be deployed for security duties.
