SLIIT offers new BBA Honours Degree approved by UGC

SLIIT is offering a four year Bachelor of Business Administration Honours Degree that follows the UGC’s credit system framework. It is aimed at achieving a range of objectives related to the growing demand by the industry for business graduates of the highest international standard.

This four-year programme will be conducted at SLIIT’s Malabe Campus and is designed to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of national and international business management, and also arm them with a range of valuable skills to work in diverse industries, and to take up the challenges of a brave new era.

Recent surveys indicate that nearly all SLIIT graduates, are either employed at top companies or have started their own businesses. This is evidence of the progressive impact made by SLIIT on the business and IT and BPO sectors in the country.

SLIIT has continued to meet the skilled manpower demand of the IT industry.

“Our experience in this field has had an impact on the structure and learning outcome of this degree programme, which focuses on imparting general knowledge, transferable soft skills, and domain specific knowledge with respect to a range of business management disciplines,” said SLIIT Chairman Professor S. Karunaratne.

SLIIT President and CEO Professor Lalith Gamage said that the quality assurance for this programme is very stringent, in keeping with global standards of tertiary education.

“We have placed emphasis on students acquiring soft skills and gaining industry exposure through this programme.

Students have the option of following an internship, and through this industry exposure, they have many pathways and opportunities for employment upon graduation,” he said.

“SLIIT’s BBA (Hons.) degree is up to international standards and is conducted at an affordable cost.

We strive to produce graduates with strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills together with a high level of personal integrity and ethics to serve our nation and beyond,” said SLITT Business and Information Management Head Dr. Theekshana Suraweera. Registration for this degree programme will commence in September 2011.
