Kelani Cables relaunched its brand as Kelani Wire at a colourful
ceremony at Hotel Ramada on Wednesday night.
“The product has been named after the company all these years, but
the product that the customers always ask for has been a wire and that
is the reason for the rebranding and the re-launch of the product,”
Kelani Cables Marketing General Manager Anil Munasinghe told a media
briefing at the launch. The company’s new pay off line will be Kadjugama
for cashew, Nawala for pineapples, Malwana for Rambuttan, Moratuwa for
furniture, Ambalangoda for masks and puppets (Rookada) and Kelaniya for
wires.
He said that it took the company 43 years to reach the present level
of having 5,200 dealers countrywide and equipped with the best sales
team and with 426 employees of the company.
The company has a total of 7,500 electricians out of the 12,000
electricians in Sri Lanka registered in its Electricians Club who are
consistently updated with safety measures through seminars and other
awareness programmes.“We are upbeat about the growth prospects,
especially in the North and the East with the construction boom which is
opening up.
We are confident that we will be able to report a turnover growth of
Rs 4.2 billion for 2011/2012 and Rs 5 billion in the next five years
with expansions of production facilities in the same premises without
going into new ventures, he said.
