Metropolitan help for RC

Metropolitan together with the Royal College Group of 73 embarks on a youth photography skills development program aimed at developing the creative talents of youth through the lens of the camera.

The project which was launched recently through the Photography Society of Royal College will provide young photographers the opportunity to experience the best of equipment and learn from top photographers.

"This is a unique venture with Metropolitan, Royal College and the Royal College Group of 73 which supports the overall growth of the youth, as well as enhancing their creative skills through photography," said Capt Athula Hewawitharana of Group 73, Royal College.

A dry cabinet to store cameras, lenses and accessories, a Canon digital professional camera, coupled with lenses and a photo printer with a stock of stationery were donated to the Royal College Photographic Society as part of this new project. The equipment were provided by Metropolitan, the sole distributors for Canon cameras, lenses and accessories in Sri Lanka.

The project includes a series of workshops and training sessions, photography camps for the members of the Photographic Society, and a proposed exhibition amongst other schools as well.
