The Sri Lanka Ex-Servicemen's Association, having a history of 67 years was declared a charitable organization on April 9, 1976 by Parliamentary Act No. 8 - 1976.

While being beneficial to the Ex-Service personnel, it also helps in good governance of the country when required. It comprises 37 sub-associations, having a membership in excess of 30,000.

Captain Patrick Jayasinghe is elected as the president of the Ex-Servicemen's Association for the second time

ANCL extended co-operation to SLESA to publish news

SLESA Media & Publicity Committee comprising Co-President Brigadier J P A Jayawardena and Lt Cdr Siri Sudasinghe, Secretary Ananda Jayasekera and Technical Advisor Nihal Sooriya Bandara, met Senior Journalist ANCL Chairman Bandula Padmakumara, who permitted the publication of SLESA news every Thursday.

Brigadier Jayawardena thanked the ANCL Chairman for the magnanimous gesture and said that it would be a great service to the 30,000 strong membership of the Ex-Servicemen's Association.


Committee of the journal 'Veterans' and weekly news

The following members have been appointed unanimously to the board of the magazine Veterans, for the Poppy Commemoration in November, at the Media Committee meeting held at the Media Ministry, with Brigadier J P A Jayawardena in the chair.

They are Lt Cdr Siri Sudasinghe, Lt Col Dhammika Gunasekera, J Premadasa, Nihal Sooriya Bandara, D N Yahiya, M G J Kithsiri and Ranjan Silva Veteran Capt V A C C Somaratne, B D Samson, A N P de Vas Gunawardena, A P Chandrasiri, S Maharajage and Nihal Sooriya Bandara.


Sri Lanka Naval Association annual get-together

The annual get-together of the Sri Lanka Naval Association will be held on August 21, 2011 at the Mattakkuliya (Mutwal) "Pradeepa" reception Hall.

All members have been notified by letter. Any information can be obtained by contacting 011-2212529 on week days during office hours.


SLNA Kalutara District branch get-together

The above get-together will be held on July 24 at the Kalutara Urban Council and sports association hall.

The registration of attendance will be between 9.45 am and 10.00 am and a fee of Rs 350 per person will be charged.

SL Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve 1st Executive Committee meeting

The oldest Ex-Servicemen's Association CRNVR will hold its 1st executive committee meeting for the year, on July 23 at 9 am at Sri Lanka Ex-Servicemen's Association hall.

Arrangements have been made to provide lunch for inmates of the Bolagala Veterans Home in memory of Late Chief Petty Officer M J Samuel who had held the post secretary for 20 years.
