Applications called for Know India Programme
The High Commission of India, Colombo has called for applications for
the 18th and 19th editions of 'Know India Programme' (KIP) to be held
from September 21 to October 11, 2011 and December 21, 2011 to January
10, 2012 with Goa/Rajasthan and Rajasthan as partner states.
This programme is open for 'People of Indian Origins' (PIOs) Diaspora
Youth residing in Sri Lanka in the age group of 18-26 (and not NRIs).
Selected participants would be required to purchase the air ticket
for their journey from the country of residence to India and back.
Ninety percent of the total cost of air ticket, at lowest economy
excursion fare, would be reimbursed to the participants on their
successful completion of the programme. The applicants should have a
fair command of the English language, should be a graduate or
undergraduate and should be applying for the first time under this
programme.
The KIP programme would include presentations on India's political
process, developments in various sectors, interaction with faculty and
students at a prestigious university, college or institute, presentation
on India's industrial development and visits to some industries,
exposure to media, interaction with NGOs and organizations dealing with
women's issues, visit to places of historical importance/ monuments,
participation in cultural programmes, exposure to yoga, etc.

Completed application forms should reach the Counsellor (Consular),
High Commission of India, P.O.Box.882, No. 36-38, Galle Road, Colombo-03
on or before August 2, 2011 for the 18th edition of KIP (Goa/Rajasthan)
and on or before October 7, 2011 for the 19th edition of KIP
(Rajasthan).
