University entrants complete training

A team of university entrants who underwent the leadership training programme passed out on Wednesday from Rantambe National Cadet Corp training centre under the patronage of National Cadet Corps Director Major General Gamini Jayasundara.

Under this programme, 782 students representing all parts of the country have undergone leadership training at the Rantambe training centre for three weeks.

Participating in the concluding event, Major General Jayasundara said that almost all students were highly keen on participating in the programme.

This programme not only improves leadership qualities but also participants' knowledge about many other fields such as the legal framework of the country, first aid etc. After following the programme, the participants can definitely be of use to the society and to the country as they now understand that they are the future leaders.

"Unlike the average university student, the participants are ready to take up challenges," Major General Jayasundara said.

Students who have been selected for undergraduate courses at universities are being given a 21 day training programme termed 'Developing leadership qualities and positive thinking' at several military training centres throughout the country.
