Body found on river bank

The body of a 35-year-old man was found along the banks of Sudu Ganga in Roswatta, Matale on Thursday.

The body was handed over to the Matale Base Hospital.

According to two witnesses, Tyronne Rangana Jayaratne had been assaulted and thrown in to the river.

A special police team, led by Headquarters Inspector Keerthi Ranaweera and officer-in-charge of crime division Lalinda Peries on the instructions of Matale Senior Superintendent of Police Tilak Abesiriwardana are investigating.
