Police arrest suspect

Police investigating a series of killings in Kahawatte area, yesterday arrested the main suspect.

This suspect is alleged to have been involved in the murders of two women on April 3 and June 19 this year.

According to Police spokesman SP Prishantha Jayakody, Criminal Investigation Department officials jointly with a special Police team made the arrest.

He said the officials also recovered arms from his possession. SP Jayakody added that the Police received information over the murder of an old woman living along Main Street of Kahawatte on May 30.

He said that Special Task Force jointly with the Sri Lanka Army have deployed special security arrangements in the area .

The Police arrested another suspect in connection with the murder of elderly women in the Kahawatte area on January 24 this year.
