Water collected from reservoirs offered to Jaya Sri
Maha Bodhi:
Annual Pan Pooja held at A'pura
The annual Pan Pooja organized by the Power and Energy Ministry was
held at the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi, Anuradhapura with the participation of
Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka on Wednesday evening to invoke
blessings for bountiful rain this season to fill the hydrel reservoirs
and ensure uninterrupted power supplies to the country.
Eleven pots of water collected from Maussakelle, Castlereigh,
Victoria, Kotmale, Randenigala, Bowatenna, Inginiyagala, Samanalawewa,
Kukuleganga, Ukuwela and Udawalawa reservoirs were brought in a special
motorcade to the Ruwanweli Seya premises from the Galkulama Sudharmarama
Vihara amid chanting of Seth Pirith by the Maha Sangha for offering at
this Pooja. Atamasthanadhipathi Ven Dr Pallegama Sirinivasa Nayaka Thera
officiated.
after exhibiting the pots of water at the Ruwanweli Seya they were
brought and offered at the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi by devotees led by the
Maha Sangha invoking blessings for an uninterrupted electricity supply
throughout the year. A press release by the Power and Energy Ministry
said Minister Ranawaka also commissioned a new and more efficient
electricity scheme covering the entire surroundings of the Ruwanweli
Seya on this day. NCP Chief Minister Berty Premalal Dissanayake, CEB
Chairman Wimaladharma Abeywickrama, General Manager Nihal Wickramasuriya,
Additional Generation Manager M P Wickramasekera and other Ministry and
CEB officials were also present. Concurrently a similar Pan Pooja was
held at the Maussakelle Sri Saman Devalaya with water collected from
Maussakelle and Castlereigh reservoirs the same day presided by Deputy
Minister Premalal Jayasekera. |
