The Prime Minister made this observation when a delegation led by
Youth Affairs and Skills Development Deputy Minister Duminda Dissanayake
and National Youth Services Council (NYSC) chairman Lalith Piyum Perera
called on him at Visumpaya on Wednesday to present him the friendship
band launched by the NYSC to collect funds for the International Youth
Year Development Programme.
The Prime Minister said it will be more timely and opportune to build
persons with practical, technical and industrial knowledge rather than
those having only technical certificates.
The Youth Affairs and Skills Development Ministry had a vital role to
play in this respect, the Prime Minister said and added the government
considered it a duty to create the environment necessary for the
youthful generation to rise up in society independently and stand on
their own feet. |
