Sampath Bank launches Express Cheque
.Sampath Bank became the first South Asian bank to introduce online
real-time cheque deposit ATMs, when it installed machines in four cities
in the island. Two of the most important features of the new Sampath
Express Cheque facility are that customers can deposit cheques without
envelops or deposit slips and have the transactions and cheques
validated at the time of deposit .
With the installation of these machines, customers can deposit
cheques at any time of the day, and any day of the year. The Bank
ensures customer confidence in the new service by issuing a receipt with
the image of the cheque at the time of deposit. Furthermore, invalid
cheques and photocopies are recognized and rejected by the machine when
deposited. The new system in unique because the cheques are scanned at
the time of deposit and the images are immediately made ready for
processing, reducing the processing time and enhancing the service
provided to the customer.
The Sampath Express Cheque facility gives customers the advantage of
faster deposits, detailed proof of deposits, convenience of making
deposits without waiting in queues and increased acceptance time, since
cheques collected until 3.30 pm through the ATM are sent for clearing on
the same day. All Sampath Bank account holders who have a Sampath ATM
card can avail themselves of this unique and efficient service through
the machines installed at the gate and lobby of the Sampath Bank head
quarters as well as the branches in Kandy, Piliyandala and Maharagama.
