PIM into economic governance training

Speaking at the informal stakeholder consultation on proposed
Executive Diploma in Economic Governance, he said professionals are able
to do something combined with their experience and knowledge.
PIM Programme Director Dr. Lloyd Fernando said policy challenges of
the government is to maintain GDP growth at eight percent per annum,
poverty alleviation, youth employment and providing better health and
education facilities.
The PIM has discussed with the George Mason University of Washington
to launch a joint leading programme leading to a Diploma in Economic
Governance, for the benefit of MPs and influential members of political
parties.
Based on international best practices, it was also considered useful
to open the programme for participation by senior private sector
executives and civil society activists, as it would facilitate a rich
cross exchange of ideas and understanding among different stakeholders
in development.
Members of Parliament, nominees of political parties, senior
executives, CEOs from the private sector and prominent civil society and
NGO activist can follow this nine month course.
Classes are conducted in English.
