Suspect with 29 kgs of sambhur meat arrested

Kahatagasdigiliya police seized 29 kilos of sambhur meat and arrested
a suspect transporting it in a three wheeler at Thimbiriwewa,
Kahatagasdigiliya on Monday.
Police said that the suspect R M Vipula Jayalath, a resident of
Thimbiriwewa, Parakumpura is a disabled soldier.
Police discovered that he had hidden the meat in a plastic can in the
rear space behind the seat of the three wheeler.
He was produced in Anuradhapura Courts and fined Rs 25,000.
OIC Lakmal Wijeratne directed the raid and SI Piyaratne and a team
arrested the suspect. The anti vice squad of the same police station
seized 193 timber logs which were being illegally transported in a
tipper truck.
Rafters and planks of margosa, teak and palu were among the timber
stock, police said.
The suspect, M Jayasooriya of Rotawewa, Seeppukulama was produced
before Kahatagasdigiliya court and remanded until Friday.
