KOICA helps capacity building of Sri Lankan officials
The Association of KOICA(Korea International Cooperation Agency)
Fellows (AKOFE), an alumni association of KOICA training participants
held a workshop in Marawila to build members' capacities toward their
service improvement and seek ways to conduct social service activities
in Sri Lanka as part of KOICA's after-care programmes to AKOFE.
Since its foundation in 1991, KOICA has offered the training and
scholarship programmes to Sri Lankan Government officials and personnel
by sharing Korea's capacity building and human resources development
experiences.
Under the KOICA training and scholarship program, 1,000 Sri Lankan
officials and personnel had been invited to Korea so far. In recognition
of necessity of consolidating relations of KOICA and KOICA training
participants, the AKOFE was formed on July 21, 1999.
It has 500 members who received scholarships and trainings.
Under the KOICA's sponsorship, the AKOFE annually organizes a
capacity building workshop, charity projects, household items donation
activities and provision of school teaching materials.
In addition, it also hold a year-end get-together event in which the
KOICA training alumni, KOICA staff and volunteers and other Korean
expatriates jointly participate and exchange mutual culture and custom,
thereby promoting relations between our two countries.
