President congratulates Sri Lankan team

President Mahinda Rajapaksa has sent a congratulatory message to the Sri Lankan cricket team for an excellent performance for taking a 2-1 lead in the ongoing one day international series against England.

President Rajapaksa paid tribute to former captains Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangagkkara for their immense contribution for the team’s success, and made mention of Dinesh Chandimal’s exquisite maiden century on English soil which enabled Sri Lanka to win the third one day International comprehensively.

He also made mention of Tillekeratne Dilshan’s 193 at Lords in the Second Test, and paid a glowing tribute to Mahela Jayawardene for his excellent 144 in the second one day international at Headingley which has been ranked as a Master piece.
