The Oriental Music Society of Royal College for the second
consecutive time had organized an oriental music workshop and seminar
for the western province A-L students who will Oriental Music as a
subject.
The purposes of this workshop were to educate the students about the
ways of successfully facing the A-L Examination and educating the
students about the new syllabus.
Ten lecturers from different institutions such as the National
Institute of Education and University of visual and Arts participated in
the workshop, which included a series of lectures, demonstrations,
videos and audio tracks. More than 250 students together with their
teachers from various schools in the Western Province participated in
the workshop.

The organizers wish to thank the chief guest Hemachandra Lankathilaka
Director of Visual and Arts Education, Principle of Royal College Upali
Gunasekara, Lecturers who participated and gave their fullest support
for making the event a success, and the Master in Charge Ashoka
Pushpakumara and Assistant Master in Charge Lionel Bandara and all the
members of the Oriental Music society.
The student Chairman of Oriental Music Society said that the vision
of the society was to enhance the creative power of the students in
terms of both music theory and practicals.
