University of Moratuwa mens tennis team lead by Chathuranga
Kannangara emerged champions at the recently concluded Inter University
tennis Championships, winning the championship for the record fifth
consecutive year.

After defeating Universities of Peradeniya (3-1) and Sabaragamuwa(
3-0) in the group stages the Moratuwa lads met University of Sri
Jayawardenapura in the Semi Finals and easily won the game 3-1.
The strong Moratuwa team consisted of three out of four members of
the Sri Lanka team, which will participate in the World University
Games. Prathaj Haputhanthri, Kishanthan Thangaraja and Parinda Jayasiri
will play for Sri Lanka in the WUG which is to be held in China this
August and the Moratuwa team had the strength of having them in their
side.
Kesigan Sayalolibavan who played for the Colombo team is the other
member in that team but the Moratuwa lads won the final 3-1. Champion
Moratuwa team is coached by Dinith Pathiraja while Jaliya Yasarathna is
the physical trainer.
