CR in 24-12 win over Army

CR and FC came from behind with a splendid performance to snatch a superb 24-12 victory over Sri Lanka Army Sports Club in their Caltex inter club ‘A’ division league rugby tournament match worked off at Longden Place yesterday. CR and FC after conceding a surprise 5-12 lead to their opponents at half time came back strongly in the latter stages of the game and collected their points from two goals and two tries.

Winger Vishwamithra Jayasinghe (two), winger Heshan Gunaratne (one) and centre Ashen de Costa (one) scored the tries for CR with Reza Mubarak converting two tries. Army SC after a promising start succumbed under pressure in the second half and managed to score only one goal and one try through fly half Upali Wickremasinghe and flanker Akram with Harischandra adding extra points to Akram’s try.
