SLFP Central Working Committee approves govt decision
The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) Central Working Committee
unanimously approved the government’s decision to appoint a
Parliamentary Select Committee to find a lasting solution to the North
and East issue.
The SLFP Central Committee made this decision when it met under
President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s chairmanship at Temple Trees yesterday.
The Central Committee also decided to approve a committee to prepare the
SLFP’s stance over the North and East issue.
The proposal was presented by UPFA General Secretary Maithripala
Sirisena while it was seconded by Economic Development Minister Basil
Rajapaksa. A special committee comprising UPFA representatives will also
be appointed to forward UPFA proposals to the Special Parliamentary
Working Committee.
It was also agreed to set up a special group of representatives
selected from different levels of the party to formulate proposals.
The Central Working Committee also unanimously agreed to make a
request from all political parties in parliament to submit their
proposals and solutions to the Special Parliamentary Committee with a
view of solving North and East issue. |
