'More opportunities for engineers'
Engineers and those engaged in allied fields will have expanding
opportunities for increased innovations and creativity in responding to
the demands of a multiplicity of development scenarios both locally an
beyond, emphasizing on the quality and standards of products and
services to meet the ever increasing competitiveness of the market, said
Finance and Planning Deputy Minister Geethanjana Gunawardena.
He was addressing the inauguration of inco 2011, the ninth annual
Industrial Exhibition and Trade Fair organized by the Institution of
Incorporated Engineers of Sri Lanka.
New techniques and technological advances to improve engineering
services and responses to new challenges are important matters to be
focused on, he said.
He added that he hoped there would come a time when there is greater
bonding between the industry and the state sector in the organizing of
events such as inco 2011 for the greater benefit of the country's
development efforts.
"The exhibition and trade fair being attended by a large number of
foreign participants confirms the confidence built overseas on the
engineering prospects of the ongoing development scenarios in the
country and the opportunities in partnerships that are unfolding within
such a development drive," the deputy minister pointed out.
