UN affiliated reps visit Kilinochchi, promise maximum support

Representatives from international organizations operating under the
United Nations, made a visit to the Security Forces Headquarters in
Kilinochchi on Wednesday, to discuss future programmes which had been
planned to be implemented in the Kilinochchi area.
An officer from the Security Forces Headquarters in Kilinochchi,
stated that area managers of UN, UNHCR, WHO, IOM, UNDP, UNFAO, UNICEF,
UNOPS and WFP organizations had met the Commander of the Security Forces
Headquarters in Kilinochchi, Major General Nandana Udawatta and briefed
their roles and future plans for the development and community oriented
programmes.
During the meeting, the Commander SFHQ had assured his assistance and
facilities to the organizations which were carrying out praiseworthy
roles for the benefit of the newly resettled civilians and others
residing in different areas.
He had also said that those representatives had separately produced a
catalogue of varying roles and programmes that were being implemented by
respective organizations in specific areas where they operate.
He further said that they had also tabled details regarding their
future projects, aimed at further promoting the living standards of the
civilians in Kilinochchi area. He added that those representatives had
also thanked the Commander for organizing the meeting and assured their
maximum support to the Security Forces in order to continue with their
good work.
Major General Nandana Udawatta presided at the meeting which was
attended by representatives of de-mining teams as well. |
