Permanency for state sector minor staff

The Public Administration and Home Affairs Ministry recently issued a circular to permanent the minor staff who had worked in the government sector for six years, said ministry sources.

The minor staff who had worked on temporary and casual basis are to be made permanent according to the circular.

Workers should have basic qualifications such as six years work experience in the government sector, six passes at GCE(O-L) examination and be below 45 years.

In addition, the ministry had gazetted the Tamil medium competitive examination to recruit new administrative officers with Tamil language ability. According to the ministry sources, previously this exam had been held in the Sinhala medium only and Tamils did not have the opportunity to face that examination.

Sources added that the Public Administration and Home Affairs Ministry will take measures to recruit 60 administrative officers to the state sector after holding this competitive examination.
