Permanency for state sector minor staff

The Public Administration and Home Affairs Ministry recently issued a
circular to permanent the minor staff who had worked in the government
sector for six years, said ministry sources.
The minor staff who had worked on temporary and casual basis are to
be made permanent according to the circular.
Workers should have basic qualifications such as six years work
experience in the government sector, six passes at GCE(O-L) examination
and be below 45 years.
In addition, the ministry had gazetted the Tamil medium competitive
examination to recruit new administrative officers with Tamil language
ability. According to the ministry sources, previously this exam had
been held in the Sinhala medium only and Tamils did not have the
opportunity to face that examination.
Sources added that the Public Administration and Home Affairs
Ministry will take measures to recruit 60 administrative officers to the
state sector after holding this competitive examination.
