Unite to defeat conspiracies- Asgiri Mahanayake

Mahanayake of the Asgiri Chapter Most.Ven Udugama Sri Buddharakkitha Nayaka Thera said, we, as true Sri Lankans should support President Mahinda Rajapaksa who steered the country towards development in the face of local and foreign conspiracies and influences created to sabotage the country’s progress.

”The able leadership of President Mahinda Rajapaksa should be appreciated by all Sri Lankans despite petty differences, the Mahanayake Thera further said.

The Mahanayake Thera revealed this when Upcountry People’s Front Political leader V.Radhakrishnan called on the Mahanayaka Thera at the Asgiri temple yesterday.

The Mahanayaka Thera was of the view that the President wants to develop the country and he has abundantly proved it during last five years with examples. “A country cannot be developed at once. It needs time. The foundation for the development has been laid by this government,” the Mahanayake Thera said.

”When talking about development all stakeholders should gather to work with a common agenda with which majority parties would be satisfied, he stated.

“This country belongs to all nationals and all ethnic groups should work as brothers and sisters though they belong to certain ethnic groups, the Mahanayake Thera pointed out.

Upcountry People’s Front political leader V.Radhakrishnan said that ethnic divisions should not be highlighted and we all should work as true Sri Lankans for the betterment of the country’s future. The country can develop if everyone works as one. “Only if we work together the country will be developed. Upcountry People’s Front Deputy General Secretary S. Wijendran was also present.
