Virus conjuctivitis spreading:

60 seek treatment daily

Around 60 patients seek treatment at the National Eye Hospital daily for the eye infection `Virus Conjuctivitis’ which is spreading in the country, Health Ministry spokesman said.

According to the spokesman, the symptoms of the disease are redness in eyes, eye swelling, tearing, difficulty to look at light, pain in eyes etc.

The symptoms prevail for about three days. Colombo National Eye Hospital Director Dr S A H Liyanage said that the public can avoid infection by not being in crowded places, not touching eyes and using personal towels, handkerchiefs, bedsheets etc.
