Airport Express to promote tourism

Airport and Aviation Limited of the Civil Aviation Ministry will
offer the use of "Airport Express" Luxury Train to inbound tourists,
Civil Aviation Minister Priyankara Jayaratne said.
The Airport Express train will reach many tourist destinations. The
train operates between the Bandaranaike International Airport and the
Colombo Secretariat railway station daily, providing transport for
inbound and outbound air-passengers at a reasonable fair with comfort.
Tourists will get the opportunity to reach their destinations by a
luxury train through inbound tour operators. The train which consists of
on-board catering facilities accommodates a group of 90 tourists. In
line with the "Visit Sri Lanka 2011" theme, the Civil Aviation Ministry
is making every effort to promote tourism in line with the visit Sri
Lanka 2011 programme.
The air-conditioned luxury train will reach Rambukkana for those who
visit the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. It will also run up to Matara
and up to the Thandikulam railway station. The train will also run on
Trincomalee and Batticaloa lines, Minister Jayaratne said. To mark the
launch of the project, the train will proceed to Habarana from the
Colombo Secretariat Railway station tomorrow with the participation of
the minister, and representatives of the Sri Lanka Association of
Inbound Tour Operators (SLAITO).
