'Deyata Kirula will develop remote areas'
Next exhibition in Oyamaduwa:

President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday said that the Deyata Kirula
national development exhibition will help bring dividends of development
to less developed areas in the country.
He said that the objective of holding the Deyata Kirula exhibition
outside Colombo is to bring dividends of development to areas which had
no development benefits for decades.
The President was of the view that this exhibition which is to be
held at Oyamaduwa in Anuradhapura should be planned in a way that would
benefit all Divisional Secretariat Divisions in the district.
President Rajapaksa was addressing political leaders in the North
Central Province and ministry Secretaries at Temple Trees regarding the
Deyata Kirula exhibition which is to be held in Oyamaduwa, Anuradhapura
next year.
They discussed the development programmes that would have to be
implemented in the province parallel to this mega exhibition.
Telecommunication and Information Technology Minister Ranjith
Siyambalapitiya said that this type of national event has never been
held in Oyamaduwa in the past.
The minister added that a number of programmes would be implemented
in the Anuradhapura district to develop infrastructure facilities and
human resources under the exhibition. Secretary to the President Lalith
Weeratunga said they have focused on providing facilities to a school
library in every Divisional Secretariat in the district.
Weeratunga said schools where libraries are to be developed under
this programme, would be selected in due course.
NCP Governor Karunarathne Divulgane, Chief Minister Berty Premalal
Dissanayake, Child Development and Welfare Minister Tissa Karaliyadde,
Chief of Defence Staff Roshan Gunathilake, Service Commanders and
ministry secretaries were present. |
