Malaysian Super Series 2011:
Dilantha, clear lead with four wins
Two time Malaysian Super Series champion Dilantha Malagamuwa did a
wonderful drive last week to win the round two third and fourth races of
the Malaysian GT. These two victories also keep him as the clear leader
as he has already won the previous round too.
Although Dilantha had problems with his vehicle managed to record the
fastest time and was on pole position for the race one. Making good use
of the pole position was off to flying start and did not allow any
driver to go past him in the early stage of the event. Once he was on a
sizable lead controlled it well and went pass the chequered flag to be
the winner in race one for the day.
Malaysia's Weng and Davi Lai though they were behind the wheels of
faster cars Ferrari 458 GT3 and David Lai his newly upgraded Lamborghini
could not match the driving of Dilantha and finished as runners up.
Dilantha was driving a Lamboghini LP560.
Race No. 2 was run on wet track and Dilantha had to rely on his only
set used tires that was used for qualifying round. But he overcame all
problems and was set for the race due to the help his mechanics who
performed a magnificent job within a short time. He got a good start and
Weng was side by side with during the first lap and he pulled away from
Weng. Finishing the fifth lap Dilantha was on a good lead with Weng and
David following. He went on to win this too proving that he is capable
of driving under any conditions.
Dilantha gained the advantage when cornering as he is an expert on
these. Though the other cars were faster on the straights they could
notmatche the leader specially in the corners from which Dilantha
secured the maximum out of them.
Dilantha who was minus a sponsor for a long time has got the services
from Sri Lanka Browns Group which could give him a big boost in the
future. He is thankful to the sponsors for coming forward to help him.
He also thank Malaysian Sponsors Ray AX and Sata and also Chronoforce
of Hong Kong for the publicity for given to him in Asian Region.
He still carries the message " WE LOVE AND SUPPORT JAPAN" with the
Japanese flag on his car as Japan for the support and assistance
extended for him to drive for Sri Lanka during the last four decades. |
