Investment opportunies from C’wealth Games

Hosting the Commonwealth Games 2018 in Hambantota will create many long-term investment opportunities for the private sector with infrastructure development.

Commonwealth Games 2018 Organizing Committee Chairman and Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal said the private sector will have many direct and indirect investment opportunities in the infrastructure development, tourism, IT and logistics sector.

“These will be long-term investment opportunities with the preparation for Commonwealth Games 2018 in Hambantota,” he said on Tuesday. The bid to host the games in 2018 was officially launched in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on May 11. The country is confident of winning this bid.

“We expect that total investment value of these opportunities will be USD 4 billion which will be spread out in the next seven years.

There are nine hotels that will be constructed adjacent to the Game Park.
