Nabbed while taking bribe

Bribery and Corruption Commission headed by retired High Court Judge P. J. De S. Balapatabendi made several raids during last week.

A police constable of Piliyandala police was arrested when he was accepting a bottle of Brandi from a person by the Bribery officials. An Investigating officer and a security officer of the Motor Traffic Commissioner’s Department, Werahera Piliyandala were arrested while they were accepting Rs 2,000 as a bribe to correct an error in a motor vehicle engine.

The suspects were remanded by the Colombo Chief Magistrate.
