Lanka appreciates Russian help

Petroleum Industries Minister and Sri Lanka Russian Friendship Association President Susil Premajayanth in a press statement issued to mark the National Day of Russia has appreciated the great services rendered by the Russian government for ushering sustainable peace in our country and giving its fullest cooperation to develop the country.

The National Day of Russia will be celebrated today and they have been celebrating the National day of Russia since 1994.

Sri Lanka and Russia have enjoyed a long friendship for several decades. In the past years both countries maintained rapid development in economic, cultural and education sectors as a result of long friendship.

The minister has thanked the Russian government for extending its fullest cooperation to Sri Lanka when certain international forces are working against our country. The Russian government has given great honour to our country by awarding a Doctorate to President Mahinda Rajapaksa. A large numbers of Sri Lankan students are studying in Russia and the Russian government will establish a Russian Language Centre in Sri Lanka.
