EM technology to maximize agricultural production

Farmers can get maximum use of their cultivations by using Effective Micro-organism(EM) Technology without using chemicals, said Sarvodaya Economic Enterprise Development Services(Guarantee) Ltd.(SEEDSGte) Ltd Senior Manager(Enterprise Services) Shantha Jayasooriya. EM Technology has been introduced by the SEEDS(Gte) Ltd. with the support of EM Research Organization, Japan.

The technology was developed by Dr. Teruo Higa, professor at the University of the Ryukyus, Japan. over 116 countries use this method successfully, he said.

He also said that EM is a 100 percent eco friendly technology which is produced from an organic method. EM liquid is a mixture of three main microorganisms called photosynthetic bacteria, lactic acid bacteria, and yeast.

EM Technology can be used for animal husbandry, crop production, waste management, waste water management etc. It helps to reduce the usage of agro-chemicals reduce the production cost, increase the quality of agriculture products, reduce the environment pollution, waste management etc. Jayasooriya said.

This technology can be used to grow paddy, vegetables, fruits, horticulture, mushrooms, betels and various other crops.
