Samadhi Buddha statues for SL missions abroad

Twenty six Samadhi Buddha statues were handed over to external Affairs Minister prof G.L. Peiris by President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees yesterday.

These statues will be delivered to 26 Sri Lankan missions in 22 countries to mark the 2600th Sambuddhathva Jayanthi.

A pirith chanting by 15 bhikkus was led by the Sanganayake of United Kingdom, lecturer at the Scotland Glasgow University and Consultant to the Scottish Parliament Ven. Kamburagala Revatha Thera to invoke blessings on President Rajapaksa.

The statues will be placed at the Sri Lankan missions in Austria, Australia, Bangladesh, Canada, China, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Kenya, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Netherlands, Oman, Pakistan, Philippines, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, USA and United Arab Emirates.Foreign Employment Promotion and Welfare Minister Dilan Perera, Foreign Employment Promotion and Welfare Ministry Secretary Nissanka M. Wijerathna and Foreign Employment Bureau chairman Kingsley Ranawaka also participated.
