Elections to remaining 67 Local Government bodies on July 23

The Elections Department yesterday said the elections for the remaining 67 Local Government bodies will be held on July 23. The government won 205 out of 234 local bodies which went to the polls last April.

The Illankai Tamil Arasu Katchchi (ITAK) secured the second place by winning 12 Local Government institutes, while the UNP won only 09 bodies. The Sri Lanka Muslim Congress won 04, National Congress 02, the Up-Country People’s Front (UPF) 01 while an Independent Group secured 01 LG body.
