Housing scheme lacks electricity

The Sandagunapura Housing Scheme in the Rakwana electorate lacks electricity though it is situated in the vicinity of the Samanala Wewa Hydro Power Station which supplies electricity to the country, residents lament.

As a result, about 90 families in the scheme are compelled to live in the dark. Residents say that although they have made several requests to the authorities, no action has been taken so far to provide electricity as yet.

Therefore they have requested the Deputy Minister of Power and Energy who is also a Member of Parliament in the Ratnapura District to help them get the much needed electricity.
