Mahanayake thera rendered immense service to the Sasana - PM
Prime Minister D M Jayaratne in a message of greeting to the most Ven.
Tibbotuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Maha Nayake thera of the Malwatta
chapter, whose birthday fell yesterday, recalled with gratitude the
colossal services the prelate had rendered for the perpetuation of the
Sri Sambuddha sasana.
The message said the prelate has gained the peoples attention and
reverence for his inclination towards not only religious but also social
and cultural service.
Born in Kohonsiya, Matale the Mahanayake thera received ordination
and later higher ordination on June 10, 1964 following pirivena
education.
The prelate is also committed towards granting scholarships to lay
and clerical students studying the Dhamma.
He is also engaged in dhammaduta activities abroad maintaining
contacts with a host of foreign countries.
He has also planned to create a Buddhist reawakening among the people
during the 2600th Sri Sambuddhatva Jayanthi.
The forthright views expressed by him are a great strength and
encouragement for politicians to tread the correct path. May the
Mahanayake thera be blessed with long life, the Prime Minister said in
his message. |
