More facilities for fishermen

Facilities will be provided for fishermen to face challenges in the sea by the Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Ministry, said Minister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne.

Dr.Senaratne was addressing the opening ceremony of the Radio Signal Detecting Centre in Kalmunai recently.

Fisheries Ministry reconstructed a Tsunami affected community hall at Sainthamaruthu, Kalmunai at a cost of Rs. 1.5 million funded by International Funds for Agricultural Development (IFAD) on the theme of Post Tsunami Coastal Rehabilitation and Resources Management.

"The Ministry will introduce a Double Loan Line System for fishermen to recognize the places with more fish resource. Steps have been taken to make the fishery community self-sufficient.",the Minister said.

Minister Senaratne made an official visit in the Ampara and Batticaloa districts.
