Landslide warning

The National Building and Research Organization (NBRO) yesterday warned of landslide threats in several areas in the Kegalle, Kalutara, Ratnapura and Galle districts.

These four areas have received heavy rainfalls during the last 24 hours. Landslide Studies and Service Division Head R M S Bandara said that many areas in these districts have been identified as landslide threatened areas.

Two people died and several were injured following a landslide, he said.

According to the Disaster Management Centre, two people from Galigamuwa and two children from Bulathkohupitiya in the Kegalle districts died following a landslide.
