Move to ease Jaffna traffic congestion

Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise Development Minister Douglas Devananda will take steps to ease out the traffic congestion in the Jaffna City. Pedestrians in Jaffna are inconvenienced due to parking of vehicles on streets in the city. A meeting was convened at the Jaffna Municipal Council to take action to solve the situation.

Officials of State Departments, Representatives of Trade Associations and Threewheeler Associations, Lorry owners, Representatives of Bus owners’ associations, and voluntary organizations and Municipal Council Members including the Jaffna Mayor participated. Minister Devananda said the decision would be made after studing suggestions to implement the programme. It was suggested to park buses from distant places at the Pannai bus stand and the loading of goods to vehicles at main roads to be done after 6 p.m.
