Heavy fines on power pirates

Officers attached to the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) North Central Regional office arrested 28 power pirates during raids conducted in Ruhunugama, and Wahalkada areas.

They were produced in court and fined a total of Rs. 485,000. Meanwhile seven villagers allegedly tapping power from main supply lines were rounded up during raids conducted by CEB special investigation team and Mutur Police.
