'Viewing Dutugemunu remains, a rare honour'

"The opportunity to view the remains of our great King Dutugemunu is a rare honour," said Sabaragamuwa Provincial Governor W J M Lokubandara.

He was participating at the Pinbara Lanka Exhibition organized by the National Heritage Ministry on Sunday.

It will be held from May 18 to 31. Lokubandara said that due to the dynamic leadership of President Mahinda Rajapaksa, the country was blessed with the opportunity to commemorate the 2600th Sambuddhatva Jayanthi on a grand scale. A number of rare antiques which were not exhibited before are displayed at the exhibition.

Gold plated Buddhist statues, Bodhisathwa statues, the oldest golden scroll in Sri Lanka Wallipuram Ran Sannasa, golden caskets and other golden scrolls are being exhibited.
