Oman Air begins daily Muscat flights

Oman Air yesterday announced the daily flights to Colombo from Muscat commencing June 1.

Oman Air Country Manager for Sri Lanka and Maldives Gihan Karunaratne said the increase in Oman Air’s flights from five per week to daily flights is a welcome decision.

This move would be a great boost for the large number of tourists Oman Air will bring into Sri Lanka and Oman Air has managed to dominate in various competitive markets while providing unmatched products and services.

Oman Airlines has been very successful in promoting Sri Lanka as a preferred destination in Europe and is in the process of continuously promoting Sri Lanka in various countries such as Oman, Italy and others.

In terms of inbound tourism, Germany, Paris and UK are the growing markets for Sri Lanka.

“From January to April 2011, inbound and outbound passenger load capacity of Oman Airlines recorded 85 and 88 percent respectively.

The peaceful environment in Sri Lanka has created a healthy impact on the tourism industry.

“We can foresee an increase in the number of tourists coming to Sri Lanka,” Karunaratne said.
