Kurunegala religious activities

The Young Men's Buddhist Association of Kurunegala has made several arrangements to celebrate the 2600th Sambuddhathva Jayanthi on a grand scale.

Bhikkhus will tour the Kurunegala urban area chanting seth pirith and distributing pirith threads and water to all residents. The pirith threads and the water have been blessed by Bhikkhus who chanted pirith for one week at the Wehera Jayasumanaramaya Temple. In addition, two hundred and sixty bhikkhus will tour the Kurunegala town and six directions on pindapatha.

All bhikkhus will assemble at the YMBA Headquarters for a dana offered by the devotees. Robes will be offered to all Bhikkhus there. People of all communities and religions have offered help for this purpose.

Measures are also being taken to construct a house for an inmate brought up at the Maliyadeva Boys' Home who is now an elder.
