English programme for 2,600 Buddhist monks

A special educational programme will be launched to teach English to 2,600 Buddhist monks under the National programme English Sri Lanka to mark the 2600th Sambuddhathva Jayanthi. The basic objectives of this programme is to provide a basic knowledge of English to the Maha Sangha while giving them a training to conduct Buddhist propaganda work in the English medium.

All Buddhist monks who are willing to follow this course are requested to send in their applications with name, address, telephone number, date of birth and basic educational qualifications with the recommendation of their Chief Incumbents to the English Sri Lanka Secretariat 42/9, Rosmead Place, Colombo 7 on or before June 15, 2011.
