'Muslims won't let conspirators topple govt'
The Muslims of this country will stand against all attempts made by
foreign conspirators who in collaboration with certain local elements'
endeavours to topple the President and to destabilize the legally
elected government, Parliamentarian A H M Azwer said at the prize-giving
ceremony of Kurunegala District Federation of Ahadiya schools at the
YMBA Hall, Kurunegala.
Federation's Chairman M B M Farook presided.
Azwer said that the Muslims by conviction of their faith had always
remained patriotic even under foreign domination.
"Under the Portuguese, Dutch and the British dominations, Muslims
always fought for the liberation of their Motherland. This was also the
fundamental political lesson taught to us by our past great leaders like
Sir Mohamed Makan Makar, Dr T B Jayah, Sir Razick Fareed, Dr M C M
Kaleel, Dr Badiuddin Maha- mud and others of that calibre.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa has restored the honour and dignity of
the Muslim Community by defeating the terrorists, he said.
There was a time when the Muslims were afraid to go to their mosques
particularly during the month of Ramazan for their prayers. When the
Supreme Court Judgement prevented the recital of Azan it was the
President who gave orders to the Broadcasting Service to broadcast Azan
five times a day.
He is better than any others and understands the needs of the Muslims
and their religious affairs.
He is a friend of the Muslim and Arab world which is why Western
powers try to harass him by things like Darusman report.
M M C Kurunegala Abdul Sathar, Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs
Director A L M Navavi, Muslim League Youth Funds of Tittawegala,
Nikadalupotha President M H M Farook, Nazam Master and several others
also spoke.
Azwer was honoured by draping the golden shawl around his shoulders. |
