Free cataract surgeries

The Health Ministry will organize a special campaign in the Vauniya General Hospital to perform cataract surgeries free for the resettled community in the North, a ministry spokesman said.

He said that this campaign will be held from May 16 to 18. About 300 patients in Vavuniya, Kilinochchi and Mullaithivu who have lost their sight due to cataract are expecting to undergo surgeries during this campaign. This is organized by the Vision 2020 Secretariat with the contribution of Tharunyata Hetak Foundation, Helpage Sri Lanka and Surgevision.
