President at Ananda, Nalanda, Visakha Vidyalaya Sil campaigns
President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday visited Ananda Vidyalaya,
Nalanda Vidyalaya and Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo and participated in the
Sil campaigns conducted at the three schools to mark the 2600th Sri
Sambuddhatva Jayanthi.
After participating in the religious observances held at Ananda and
Nalanda Colleges, Colombo, the President later visited Visakha Vidyalaya
and joined in offering Dana (noon meals) to schoolchildren who
participated in the Sil campaign. Later, the President presented a
Buddha statue to Visakha Principal Sandamali Aviruppola.
Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena and Public Trustee Sarath
Seneviratne were also present.
A press release by the President’s Media Division said Sil campaigns
and other religious ceremonies were in schools countrywide yesterday to
mark the 2600th Sri Sambuddhatva Jayanthi with the objective of
preparing the student population for the 2600th Sri Sambuddhatva
Jayanthi. |
