Ravi K’s appointment challenged in court

Nugegoda District Judge Champa Janaki Rajaratne issued notice on 75 persons, including UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe, to appear before court on May 23.

The court issued notice on a petition filed by UNP Western Provincial Council member Maithri Gunaratne. The petitioner Gunaratne sought the court to issue an injunction suspending the decision to appoint Ravi Karunanayake as the UNP National Organiser.

The District Judge observed that before court issued such an injunction, an opportunity should be given to the defendants to show cause. She put off the hearing for May 23.
